How long has Homeopathy been used?
Homeopathy has been used in the UK for over two hundred years, but has an honourable tradition dating back to ancient Greece. It was Samuel Hahnemann, a brilliant doctor working in 1796 who developed the scientific and philosophical foundations of this gentler way of healing. These scientific principles form the basis of successful homeopathic practice today.
What happens when you see a homeopath?
Your homeopath understands that establishing good health involves treating both mind and body, so time is taken to listen to your emotional and physical symptoms. To stimulate your body's own healing process, a remedy closest to your individual symptom picture is prescribed. Are homeopathic remedies safe?

What can homeopathy treat?
Homeopathy treats the person, there is some evidence to suggest it can help a person manage the symptoms of acute fevers, sore throats and toothache, to chronic illnesses such as arthritis, eczema, asthma, anxiety and insomnia.

The Ghana Homeopathy project runs a 2 year Diploma Course in Accra. At present we are training 16 students, who will attend 300 hours of lectures and workshops as well as sitting in on clinics and an additional module in anatomy, physiology and pathology. The course was initiated by volunteer Richard Pitt, former Director of the Pacific Academy of Homeopathy, San Francisco, who spent 8 months in Ghana, having just returned to the USA in August 2010. The sudents who wish can continue for a 3rd year to complete a more advanced 500 hour course. We have been able to send experienced homeopaths and teachers from abroad to train the students.
In October 2009, Ghana Homeopathy Project, with the help of a £1,000 donation from Sheaf Trust plus £1,000 raised from individual donors, was able to fund a training programme in Ghana. Two Indian homeopathic doctors with 30 years of experience in practice, Dr Kalyan Bhattacharyea and Dr Kalishankar Bhattacharyea, had volunteered to go to Ghana for 1 month to train Ghanian homeopaths . The Indians had been impressed with the Ghanians commitment to homeopathy, when GHP were able to pay for the airfare for our project apprentice homeopath Emperor to study on a 2 week clinical training programme in India.
In February 2008, DR Kalyan Bhattacharyea, of Kolkata India, kindly offered a bursary for Ghanaian Homeopath, Mr Jullus Berdie to attend his International Study Course in Classical Homeopathy. Dr Bhattacharyea is one of India's great homeopaths and teachers. Each year about 15 homeopaths gather in Kolkata to study with him. The few homeopaths working in Ghana can feel quite isolated, and Julius was delighted to take up this generous offer (the course fee is 600 pounds) to further his professional development.
